Gilbert is a comic book artist...you can package his work as graphic novels over and over, but he's making them as comics and they come across differently if you pick it up as you would a new issue of Archie... I was really worried about how Proof That The Devil Loves You would work as a graphic novel but it turned out quite strong and it feels like this was his plan dating as far back as 2011. I do sometimes think the ideal method is just collect them like Thimble Theatre. "Gilbert Hernandez: 2011-2013". But who knows if he's going to want to do something like Proof That The Devil You and present a collection of disparate stories from 2011-2018 as a single work. I pity the publisher for having to decide what to do.

New fanzine from french artist Zad Kokar: Severe Plothole. It is not strictly a comics fanzine but a music fanzine. However, it contains strips by Kokar and at least one of the interviews is with a cartoonist. The first issue of the zine looks great, that's why I thought to share it here. editionspetitenature.fr/accueil/50-severe-plothole-1.html"Severe Plothole is a music fanzine featuring reviews, comic strips by Zad Kokar and interviews with Paul Arámbula, Elizabeth Holleville and Vymethoxy Redspiders. The entire fanzine is in English."

Sent to print today, 36 black and white pages of gags, humour, and absurd comics from Myself and my wife Carli Kennedy. A playful working class artist, Youth and communities worker and former Berlin punk squatter. The comic is called Biffa, named after a bin company in the U.K. generally I ripped the size and design sensibility off from Charlie Mensuel. I'd go on to say its a comic inspired that publication, for fans of Jean Jacques Sempé, Copi, David Shrigley, Charles Johnson that type of jazz. Out in a couple of weeks.

Didn't know José Quintarar has been published in Now. Nice. I love his work too. It's a bit different to his current work, but I keep recommending to people his book "Conociendo a Jari" published by Fulgencio years ago (under an old name he used: José Ja Ja Ja) www.fulgenciopimentel.com/libros/conociendo-a-jari/
