I snagged a table at the last minute because one exhibitor decided to cancel, so I'll be at table number K3.

Managed to finish my new comic just in time for the show. First new comic in 2.5 years. 18 page horror-ish comic. I'll be at table W30B, come swing by and grab a copy! Also: free Richard Corben trading card if you buy 2 or more comics lol

What did people think of the show? I'm trying to decide myself. I used to read con reports when I was younger, even for shows I'd attended, and treat them as true gospel. The feel on the floor! The book of the show! Now I just think...it was ok? It was nice? It was like every other SPX, more or less? I had some good conversations, none unique enough that they feel worth reporting here.
Sales were slower, I've seen people attributing that to the weather and the economy. Seems reasonable.

It was my first time attending SPX. But it really reminded me of the few years that I went to the now-defunt DINK in Denver. I only spent a good chunk of Saturday there and I left wishing I had given myself more time. But it was also very crowded and often overwhelming.
I found the map mostly useless because they didn't actually have aisles/islands labeled unless a vendor happened to leave their table number sign showing. so I spent a lot of time doing laps trying to orient myself by finding someone I knew/recognized and trying to determine where other tables were based on that. Also some more (or any?) signage about the panels going on would have been nice.
A lot of the bigger name guests seemed to have less table traffic (based on my own anecdotal observations). And anything riso still seems to be attracting people like moths to a light though a lot of what I scoped out didn't really seem to be doing anything cool or interesting...just riso to say it's riso and charge more.
that's my thoughts. interested to compare CXC.

It was my first time attending and my first time tabling, I had a blast! Sold some stuff, bought some stuff and met lots of great people and talked comics all day and all night long for 2 days straight. It was great meeting fellow board members awfulquiet and cartoonysam! I'm still so green so it's hard for me to quantify the show's worth but it was worth it for me personally. Traveling from out of town and everything was a big deal and was something I wasn't sure of. Now that I'm over the hump I can't wait to do more shows. The personal highlight for me aside from meeting internet friends IRL for the first time was having an opportunity to meet and chat with Denis Kitchen and give him a copy of my comic. He was super kind and I'm glad I worked up the nerve to approach him. All in all a whirlwind of a time, and if I'm being honest, I'm still low level buzzing from it more than two-weeks after. Now I just have to get to work on the third issue of my comic!
