Just finished Trots and Bonnie yesterday (it’s great), today I’m “reading” (taking pictures of pages and machine translating random passages) from a crazy 70s men’s comics mangaka named Ichiro Iijima. I buy a lot of Japanese books and do stuff like that and post about em on Insta to pad my enjoyment and interaction considering I can’t, yknow, read them.

I brought Vinland Saga vol. 2 with me to work. I really enjoyed Planetes and I enjoyed vol. 1, as well!

I recently read Tyler Landry's new book DUNGENOIDS vol. 1 as well as Bryce Davidson's GUN-METAL AFFAIR #1. Had a blast reading both, very different books but both have such nice use of b&w.
Also reading my first Tardi book, STREETS OF PARIS, STREETS OF MURDER vol. 1, enjoying it a lot so far. Tardi's linework is so fun to study.

Yours by Margot Ferrick , reread last night for probably the fifth or sixth time. I come back to it a lot when I need to remind myself what I'm doing/why I want to create things. I have a PDF of Dognurse that I have read twice now as well but it hurts to not have it physically so I try not to look at it too often
Non comics, I finished Cassavetes on Cassavetes yesterday after reading it uberslow for a few months. The most useful and affirming book related to film I have ever read by a lightyear. Started my third go of Charlie Kaufman's Antkind; Difficult for me to talk about it without just spilling into hyperbolic exclamations, but it means a lot to me and I continue to wince at its overall non-impact since its release Just started John Lurie's History of Bones. An easy breezy read, and just purely pleasurable and wise exactly the way one would expect it to be.

Never read Cassavetes on Cassavetes but the others in that series that I have read (Cronenberg and Scorcese) were both really insightful and compelling in totally different ways. I particularly loved the Cronenberg one which isn't interview based, it's just Cronenberg writing at length about his own career (up until CRASH). Super candid and interesting.

I just finished Volume 1 of Mao Dante by Go Nagai. It’s like a proto-Devilman and is a real fun read so far. The art is absolutely crazy.

Just got the Astro Boy Omnibus 1 in at the library where I work, so that is going to be my weekend. Never read any before but am enjoying it so far. I adore these omnibuses, they have a whole cube on my ikea shelf in my living room. Absolutely the best bedtime reading, in my opinion. I just picked up Lemire's Essex County from my local library, and have been reading through a lot of Michael DeForge books I never got around to also in between non-comics schoolwork and literature.

We haven't met but I follow you on instagram (found you through Bubbles and the related comics-sphere) and I've been really enjoying your posts about that yokai book, thank you for your work on this stuff!

Blubber #6 I kind of like the stuff where the robots and animals are killing each other more than the mostly sex positive kinky stuff with real people though. Hard Boiled Angel Blue Angel vol 1 &2 The state of Korean comics translated to English today seems mostly limited to the stuff D&Q is putting out. Although I realize a lot is available in scans. I need a Ryan Holmberg for manhwa to emerge and provide guidance. Captain America Bicenential Battles Treasury Edition reprint Kind of a rip off for $30, but the colors are nice and the size is nice. All comics by Linnea Sterte, my favorite user of white space right now in their comics.
