Re-read Tatsumi's Push Man and other stories and Tsuge's The Man Without Talent. Loved both more than the first time
probably gonna read Solanin by Inio Asano today. Never read anything by them before

reading Case of the Missing Men by Bertin / Forbes, got it from the library after remembering my interest in it from when it came out years ago. Read about half on the train, it’s great I bought both Hobtown books a few months back and absolutely loved them. Such great, dense storytelling and cartooning. So much character in the drawing and while there have been a million Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew/Johnny Quest pastiches to come before it this one never feels like it’s trying to be a parody but instead just wants to DO one of those mysteries in a totally earnest but more adult way. It’s not winky at all. The second book takes both the cartooning and storytelling in a really interesting new direction. Can’t wait for the third volume!

For the curious, Solanin wasn't worth reading I also read The Sky Is Blue With A Single Cloud yesterday, which was amazing. D&Q seems to be doing two more collections of alt-manga by women next year which I'll definitely be picking up. They're refreshing after all of the very male aspects of these Gekiga books Speaking of, Tatsumi's Fallen Words is next, today and/or tomorrow

Spent some time with vol 2 of John Allison's Steeple between moving boxes around my new apartment. It's been some time since I've sat down and read his comics more than a page at a time as his website updates and it really changes up the pacing in a way I'm enjoying

I picked up The River At Night by Kevin Huizenga at my LCS last week. I started it last night. It’s really good! Looking forward to finishing that tonight. Also, I borrowed the first 2 volumes of Berserk from a friend recently. I had never read it and thought i’d give it a try when he told me how much he likes it. They’re quick reads! Story-wise it didnt do anything for me, but the art is pretty good.

Shame on me but I recently read Alan Moore and Jacen Burrows' Neonomicon and Providence, the latter having not been very easily available for a while there.
Burrows, like- bless him, man, his work is great, but it also reads as painfully utilitarian, especially for a topic like Lovecraft.
Burrows' stuff looks awesome in B&W. Perhaps the culprit is just shitty modern computer coloring, as it often is

E.S. Glenn's BUM. An evolution of the crime caper aesthetic of Unsmooth. Very dense with smaller frames and text this time. Includes some experiments with different drawing styles. Only wish the text were bigger, my poor eyes get tired easily these days.

Story-wise it didnt do anything for me, but the art is pretty good. I love the River at Night. One of the best comics I ever read. I loved Berserk too. I started in on it last year and read 20 volumes. It's impeccably made melodrama. It never ends, and the artist has now passed away, but I enjoyed what I read, and it's a real legacy he left behind. I read the second volume of Summit of the Gods by Jiro Taniguchi. It's so well done. It's got some manga tropes that leave me cold: excessively decent people, landscapes that seem like photography, and a story that probably won't pay off in four volumes. That said, this volume had over 100 pages about a guy scaling the side of a mountain by himself. Just a deep, intense look at the experience of mountain climbing. The amount of research done to tell the story effectively is mind-boggling. A real stunning book with a lot of visceral events in it.

The Sky is Blue With A Single Cloud is so good!
And also I agree with the other posters talking about The River at Night, I love that book.
Currently I am reading Night Bus by Zuo Ma (published by D&Q this year) and I am enjoying it, especially the art.

I finished reading Worlds Unknown, a little anthology put together by Gavin Mackie/Chemical Garden Press. It was a Kickstarter but they'll be selling extras soon and I highly recommend it. Nice little package. Great stories. Kind of my ideal anthology... Perfect size and length. And beautiful design overall. www.chemicalgardenpress.com/blog

Somebody loaned me the whole series of Sweet Tooth because there was supposed be a TV show. I guess the show was a flop, but I'm halfway through the stack of books and enjoying them.

I haven't bothered with the show, but I liked the comic a lot. For my part yesterday I read Gipi's One Story, Ivy Atoms' Pinky & Pepper Forever, and Jenn Woodall's Magical Beatdown #2. Loved all of them. Pinky & Pepper was pretty upsetting in parts but also resonated in a way I never thought a book like that would. Honestly I can't believe I read a book like One Story but then Pinky & Pepper was the one that I was thinking about the rest of the day. Today I plan to read Tommi Parrish's The Lie And How We Told It. Their work in Now is amazing, and while I didn't love Perfect Hair I am *really* looking forward to reading this

I love the comics, couldn't stand the show. My wife never read the comics and loved the show. Have heard mixed reviews overall, and it did get renewed for season 2.
