What's your favorite tools? I'm looking for some new toys to work with. I'm really into working with Crow Quill Nibs - #102.

I've drawn every line in my last five comics with the Joseph Gilott 1068a. It's perfect for me. For regular drawing ill use the Pilot Kakuno extra fine

For the longest time I liked the Tachikawa G nib -- and I still do, it has a lot of versatility and lasts much longer than Hunt 102s. More recently I've also been using the Deleter Maru nib, which is like a better version of a 102. Great for detail work or small images.
For ink I like the Pilot drafting ink. It's smooth and never gets clunky, probably my top criteria for a great ink.
I draw in pencil fairly often and for whatever reason I'm less picky there.

Not for inking like the other suggestions, but I'll probably be using these Alvin Draft-Matics until I die. I've tried other nice mechanical pencils like Rotring and Staedtler, but nothing else compares for me. Also love grid and triangle style rulers and circle templates. You just get so much mileage out of the simple stuff.

The classic t-sqaure and triangle rule combo is another one of my favs

enormous fan of the G-Nib, also switched to that from the 102. these days i'm using mostly microns though cuz i want to draw in different spots without carrying a bottle of ink around with me. but there's nothing like a nib line, that's a pure joy. rapidographs are nice too, i actually like cleaning them. when you take apart a tool down to its smallest parts you develop kind of a relationship with it. can't really travel with those either tho.

Huge fan of the Preppy pen.
Tried doing nibs for a couple years, could never be gentle enough with them, went through so many. But dipping ink changed my approach so much. I take out the cartridges from the Preppy pen and just dip it into a pot of black ink. that thick pitch black line. nothing like it. Theres something about the moleskin paper too, so that the ink just sits on top of it instead of seeping in. Perfection.

I like to use acrylic markers to ink my comics lately. Very opaque and permanent. Crisp lines, too!

What's your favorite tools? I'm looking for some new toys to work with. I'm really into working with Crow Quill Nibs - #102. I've just started using nibs and I love the line quality, but I keep smudging and smearing the ink!! It stays so much wetter than when using a brush, somehow.

Yeah when I first started using them I had to change up my drawing speed a little to prevent smudging.
