Looking to read some new comics, preferably horror. So I am asking, what are some of your favorite horror comics? What would you recommend?

I guess this is the obvious, but... Junji Ito (I haven't read a lot of his comics and I am not very much into horror, but I like how he can twist any genre and bring forward the horror in people's minds. Of what I have read from him I especially like his adaptation of the book No Longer Human, and Love Sickness. Also, Kazuo Umezz (his art is so good) and Shintaro Kago (Dementia volumes may not be very horror, but it is my favourite from him).
Last: The Strange Tale of Panorama Island by Suehiro Maruo is really good too.

I would typically first suggest the manga already mentioned (Drifting Classroom is on my annual Halloween time reading list).
Some more recent Western stuff that has been good is Outcast by Robert Kirkman, Gideon Falls by Jeff Lemire, Black Monday Murders by Jonathan Hickman... Those are some I've enjoyed. Something is Killing the Children has been a popular one but it kinda lost my interest after the first volume.

Besides the obvious Ito and Umezu here are some that came to mind...
Celine Loup's The Man Who Came Down the Attic Stairs
Shuzo Oshimi's work, especially Blood on the Tracks but Happiness is good too.
I'm a big fan of Richard Corben's adaptation of The House on the Borderland.
I'm reading Jamie Delano's Hellblazer run for the first time right now and having a really good time. I'm sure I'll think of more!

I recommend Josh Simmons's work. I think he has two collections, Flayed Corpse and The Furry Trap, plus a few other longish works and a lot of shorter stuff. Micky ( available here, for example) is one of the most disturbing comics I can ever remember reading. And here's some info on his recent releases.

Micky disturbed me so deeply that I almost wanted to throw it away after reading it LOL. It's an excellently drawn comic, but it feels truly cursed.

I second the Delano/Ridgway Hellblazer issues.
Would also toss in Corben's various Poe adaptations, Shadows on the Grave, and Ragemoor

Horror is a tough genre in comics, I don't often feel true horror reading a comic. That said I love Ito and I liked the Kago short stories in Super Dimensional Lovegun.

Josh’s comics truly creep me out like nothing else - Black River is also great.

I also find Al Columbia's work very creepy. He himself is a pretty intense character. Anyone else follow the massive drama and fallout with his Italian publisher over the Biologic reprint? I guess we'll never see the cheapy the guinea pig book mentioned on Inkstuds.
I didn't follow that, but how would a tasteless rubbernecker find out more?

As long as we are talking Vertigo, that issue of Sandman in the diner is the only comic I've ever read that actually gave me nightmares. I was reading the "Essential Vertigo" reprints of Sandman and Swamp Thing and almost dropped the project altogether, lol.
