also not to self plug, but i'm put together two animation screenings that will play during pictobeach. indie/alt animation is deffo popping off right now... View AttachmentView AttachmentAlaird, I am a big fan of what you did with Hellavision and seeing your regular showcases! I hope to catch one next time I'm back in NYC. I am also self-plugging here, but I put on a show in LA called Loose Frames every other month which focuses on individual indie animators and their process. If you're in town, check out our IG: @loose_frames please let me know when youre in town next! ill let you know if im ever in LA

Damn, I've never seen this somehow. In old Russian animation, I love the very trippy films of Armenmultfilm: Cipollino, the very socialist fable by Gianni Rodari (the book is going to be published in English soon, and I'm illustrating another (also very socialist) novel of his). Hedgehog in the Fog of course. And of course Cheburashka (the puppet one, the current 3d thing is a travesty). Cheburashka has a Japanese following, and there's a pretty good-looking animated series, though I haven't actually watched it. Russian Winnie-the-Poof is also amazing. Very weird and minimalist.
