I was wondering if there are any board/card/role playing games illustrated by famous cartoonists. It’s interesting to me how comics and gaming culture go hand in hand with a lot of comics shop’s doubling as game stores for a while and ads for dnd in comics and such. The examples I can think of are John Kovalic having Dork Tower and doing Munchkin and the guy who made that Exploding Kittens game had a web comic. I used to be a huge board game head but am curious what other games are out there and if there’s anything surprising. I also love old tsr stuff and rpg illustrations and was wondering if there’s any recommendations on books of that kind of stuff, I have a few Goodman games reprints of those and like the dcc stuff alot too.

Mat Brinkman worked extensively on Cave Evil (and maybe works on other games by the same company? IDK) after doing Multi-Force.

There's the "Feds'N'Heads" and "It's a Raid" board games that Gilbert Shelton released a while back. Not exactly recommended as they're both based on monopoly. More recently, there's ANALWIZARDS by the Genchi Brothers (which I have yet to do a full play through), but it's a fun and clever concept.

Steve Arnold made a boardgame recently as a Patreon reward.

Scary Hairy Toys out of San Francisco issued small runs of board games by Richard Sala, Dan Clowes, JR Williams, (maybe?) Mats Stromberg, etc around 1994.

Mat Brinkman worked extensively on Cave Evil (and maybe works on other games by the same company? IDK) after doing Multi-Force. I got Psycho Raiders recently and it’s so sick. Brinkman did all the (extremely gory) art for the Kill cards and also put together the psychotic noise “Radio” soundtrack to go along with the game. It’s a magazine game, so even if you don’t want to play the game, you can read it as an experimental zine. Emperors of Eternal Evil might still have a deal going that if you get anything from their site, you get a new horror story that has a cover illustration by Brinkman.

Looks like Steve Jackson Games is putting out a reprint of the Groo Game. Looks fun, but the stickers on the dice looks cheap to me. would rather the graphics be printed on. They seem to be cutting costs with dice now which is a bummer. www.sjgames.com/groo/
