Who here read Jason's new book, Good Night, Hem? I finished it last night and enjoyed it, but also felt like I was missing a lot of context between these characters and their relation to Jason (Athos and Hem have both appeared before), as well as the obvious literary connections. It took me a while to get into it, the first 30 or so pages had me feeling scared it was going to be a long lit wank, but after everyone was introduced the story was enjoyable & understandable. Although again, I'm sure I missed a lot knowing literally nothing about Hemmingway. What did other people think?
Speaking more generally about Jason - which of his other works are really worthwhile? I've read Sshhhh! and Low Moon and liked both (especially Low Moon). How does Left Bank Gang (the other Hem book) compare?

I have not read Left Bank Gang, but my favourite of his are Hey, Wait... and I Killed Adolf Hitler. Both are fictional shorter works, with tight narratives and fluid easy reading. They are self-contained, needing no context to his other books or historical characters (...apart from, like, Hitler). I Killed Adolf Hitler is a comedy, and Hey, Wait... is a tragedy, both showing the best examples of Jason's range in storytelling, imo.

Hey Wait... is a classic. I love that little book.

I remember really enjoying Left Bank Gang. It's super tight drawing and clear storytelling. I'd recommend "Why Are You Doing This?" too, but haven't actually picked up a Jason in years and years.
In terms of style/visuals does he ever deviate from the statically posed, hollow-eyed anthropomorphs? Is anyone here a Jason devotee who has read them all?
