I took French in college, I would read Simpson comics in French (found them online) because I had a lot of context clues because I was so familiar with the show haha. I was not as disciplined as teemcgee though, wish I had been! I feel like I need immersion, one day I'd like to try again to learn a language.

teemcgee please share photos/thoughts from the Neaud exhibit! I knew of the re-editions but had missed this news. Very jealous. Tell him US readers eagerly await, uh, anything except more Nu Men from him... Ha, and I enjoy the thought of learning French to read Neaud, since his prose can be pretty complex. I'm translating an interview with him right now, just for fun (will share when it's finished) and find it pretty challenging work given his tendency towards complex, run-on sentences.

You bet, Andrew - I think that this showing will be mainly pages from the upcoming fifth volume of the Journal (due 2023), can't wait. I believe that there will be originals for sale - queue sweaty budget calculations for March....
manoopuesta if accessible to you, I'd recommend kids comics that haven't been translated into English (for instance one of the many serials published in Spirou magazine). At least for me, the idea that I was slowly decoding a text that had never been read by someone who only understood English was an added motivator for learning.

I think probably I would be also more immersed on it if I knew the comic was only available in French. I will try to look for something at the library or my LCS. thanks!
