Everyone knows The Real World season 3 had a dude named Judd Winnick, who was an aspiring cartoonist..... ....But lucky you, if you've never seen the show: I just wanna say that I think your understanding of Everyone could use some revising lol. I've maybe witnessed about 5-10 entire minutes of the show (a generous estimation) in passing & random clips that have somehow slipped onto my screen before I snapped out of it. I haven't been able to stand a 'reality' show in many years now lol it's just such a waste of space & time & thought. I only mean this all as a joke, but I'm surprised that you of all people are the one writing about reality tv shows & extremely obscure amateur commercial cartoonists lol a little bit of a change of pace.

Gwen Verdon singing and dancing in movie 'Damn Yankees' clip-- "Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets."
She dances like a stunning, sexy cartoon character.
If you hate musicals this won't be for you.
Sorry no link. But "Damn Yankees, Gwen Verdon" works.

Embracing what the "art world" or the "smart" people tell you to hate is the key to becoming an interesting artist in your own right. The show is junk. Comics are (or should be) junk. Cartoonists are junk.

Doc about Stephen Thompson, Green Bay Packers fan, creator of The Onion's AV Club, and son of Don & Maggie Thompson, editors of defunct industry rag Comics Buyer's Guide (which is detailed in the early moments of the vid). I think his dad was an almost complete dullard, dismissive of all but the most expected genre stuff, and therefore deleterious to the medium and its practitioners. He also practiced favoritism and held petty grudges, as most geeks did and still do - especially if they hold positions of power, however marginal. His mom seemed a little smarter, too bad she didn't write as much as her husband, and she's a wonderfully friendly person. He says in the vid he embraced the idea of being a "professional fan," which has been a very bad tendency in cultural criticism (not just comics, but film, games, literature, music, whatever.) There's a real value to what certain fans (used to, more than now) do, documenting work for future generations, but slavish admiration and petty bickering are not it. Anyway, GO PACK, the only futbol team that matters. vimeo.com/319190359?fbclid=IwAR1hFeO2uQQy2VjzJXj1tSNvnr5R2VM1mORzpM6oM-cA_S9in4kQCgDfmEs

I recently found a short Sammy Harkham interview/promotional that may be of interest.

I recently found a short Sammy Harkham interview/promotional that may be of interest. Loathsome family, and Harkham himself is no better. Billionaires should not be allowed to speak or create anything until the playing field has been leveled and their crimes accounted for. www.cinefamilyaccountability.org/

A profoundly unfunny man. Oddly, many of the people who actually write and draw the strip (Gary Barker, etc.) are quite talented.

Gerald Scarfe BBC4 documentary from 2010 :
Tom Wolfe talking about drawing & cartooning :
I just started listening to this one & even though we've all heard hours of similar talk about "debates on violence in comic books," I found this one a little unique due to the people involved. It's Denis Kitchen on the Larry King show in 1989... debating a loser named "Dr." Thomas Radecki, who at the time was with the 'National Coalition on TV Violence' & was against comic books, dungeons & dragons, & anything else that portrayed violence in any other way..... then years later, it was revealed that this Dr. is actually quite a sick puppy in his own rights & clearly doesn't have the best judgement or much room to talk about morals hahaha he was arrested & sent to prison in 2016 for trading pills for sex with his patients in order to form some kind of commune & one of his patients ended up giving birth to a child of his due to it. Anywho, with that information in mind it's both funny & off-putting to hear him talk about sex in comics & societal problems & how people should read Archie instead when he was out there getting former addicts addicted to pills so he could get his rocks off.
