For what it's worth, I don't think the issues with the NYRC edition that Austin brings up should be a deal-breaker for anyone. I'm not sure how many people would notice "hey this is a font" or "this is darker than the European edition" if they were looking at the book without a copy of the Bries edition in front of them. The second book being reformatted is more noticeable, but I think that's just a trade-off of the omnibus format. That said, I do think the hardcover format/heavier paper stock of the NYRC edition makes it physically harder to read - It's one of those books that always wants to close itself on you, that you need to wrestle with both hands in order to keep it from shutting - and I do think this is one of the things that makes it less immediate or somewhat off-putting. I also agree with Austin that Feuchtenberger is absolutely a world-class comics artist and that W The Whore is definitely worth buying, especially if the publisher has it on sale for 40% off, and you have never read the Bries editions. It might not call out for the sort of constant returning to and paging through as the paperbacks but it still withstands the scrutiny of sustained engagement if you meet it on its level.

Yeah if you've never read it, you should get it for sure, even printed in less than ideal circumstances, it's better than most comics ever made. Sorta like if some European masterpiece film was only available with English subtitles on a grainy VHS, you'd make do...
It used to be with art comics design, the work that went into it seemed almost overly anal retentive to the point of suffocating, but now I think indesign has just made things so easy that all the crucial detail work of printing a comic correctly (paying attention to all aspects of a page and how the choices the artist made get compromised in print, and how to make that compromise work as best as can be) just gets sped through. The W The Whore book feels like that to me.

I went to Ollie's Discount yesterday. They had a ton of DC, Marvel, and Archie, like they always do, but I scored Bernie Wrightson Frankenstein hardcover and a kid's book about the Haunted Mansion illustrated by Kelley Jones.

There’s like 31 bids too..? Very strange to go for such a low price. Maybe it was just two cheap people bidding but either way I’m still surprised.

Just saw that Fulgencio Pimentel has running now their yearly Filthy week (selling books with some wear/imperfections with discounts of 50-70%). I just grabbed the comic (for children, I think?) "La cena con la reina" by Rutu Modan for just 8€, good deal.

Partners and Son has the complete Sunday… all in w/shipping under 100. A lot of money for sure, but less than it was at other sellers was tipsy enough last night to pull the trigger.

For the NYC folks:
Housing Works on Crosby St has two copies of Lauren Weinstein's Goddess of War for $7 each and a half dozen or so issues of Heavy Metal from 1977 to 1981 at $10 each mag.
