Hi folks,
Would love hear about some of your favorite contemporary cartoonists (with some art/work thrown in perhaps), preferably people who became known (or big) post 2010 or so. We already have threads about some of the known greats of our medium, so would love to talk about some new folks who you are excited for, whose new releases you look forward to.
I will start.

I'm pretty blown away at Brecht Evens' work. It's dark thematically, and takes some effort to read, but it really is next level stuff that I don't think many can match. Attachments:

BALL of Fire rules. I wish I knew what happened in it. But maybe my bad french/ imagination serves me better than the actual translation? Anouk Ricard! Need more of her stuff translated, or just need to improve my french enough so I can read my copy of Boule De Feu (which is seriously beautiful with amazing backgrounds by Etienne Chaize)

Connor Willumsen by a mile, that dude is locked in on a level of drawing and storytelling that flips my wig. his drawings are super technical but not in a stiff posed way, the poses and actions of his characters are so unusual and so... lived in? without feeling like snapshots. and his writing is perfectly in sync with the drawing style, it's funny and emotional and bizarre and i end up reading them over and over again every couple months and finding new stuff in them. his sketchbook is also out of control and he seems to be constantly exploring new materials which i find inspiring and wish more artists would do.

I really enjoyed his strip in Ex Mag vol 1 and love the pencil textures. His series of Instagram posts earlier this year of like...timelapsed faces from video conference calls really broke my brain in the best way. Fingers crossed his various NY Times/etc newspaper strips will one day be collected.

What little I've seen of Ben Marcus's stuff I've really dug. I got his first self-published book Crisis Zone and looking forward to what else he does. Also love whatever Alexis Zirrit does, he's like a combo of Jack Kirby and Spain Rodriguez after dropping acid.

I even made a PDF of everything on his old Tumblr haha. I would pay good money for a sketchbook collection and/or book of shorts def.
