Brian Chippendale occassionally posts updates on some ancient project on Instagram I forget what it's called. hoping he puts some books out again at some point. he's been crankin out Black Pus music lately though so that's great. Big agree. If'n'Oof is one of those books I'll never let go. Vincent Fritz, who did the "Some Towers" comics and the insane "Super Towers" anthology. He stopped making comics to work on a board game but even that seems to have been wiped. Liam Cobb Gabriel Corbera Michael Olivo Mat Brinkman Jason Overby And in some alternate timeline where they didn't do the things they did: Blaise Larmee and Andy Burkholder.

Dennis Worden. One of the best cartoonists of the 80s and 90s. He now paints but doesn't make comics. I will be very interested to see a new Julie Doucet book.

I once read a book called Hair Shirt by Patrick McEown at the beach. Enjoyed it quite a bit; it was really mysterious and strange and the art stuck with me. Haven't heard about him since. Same situation with another book called Black Lung by Chris Wright. I remember being bowled away by that book - would love to know what he's up to.

- Fabrice Neaud hasn't made new work in like 10 years, as far as I know...
As a bit of a Neaud devotee (part of the reason I taught myself to read French was wanting to access his work after reading Japan as Viewed by 17 Creators), he has put out several works since Journal tome 4, as recently as last year - but the majority of it is sci-fi, and doesn't resonate with me the same way that his autobio does. That being said, I listened to a talk he did for an academic event last year, and if my stumbling comprehension of spoken French was correct, he said he was returning to autobio once again. Here's hoping...

Oh man I love Black Lung. I think he's working on something and he's just "off grid", but not sure where I heard that now. Chris Wright has a 14-page story in the current Now #10. Looking at this thread of former cartoonists, I feel less lamentation than the hope that, like in Logan's Run (1976), they have luckily escaped the perimeter, and the gem in their hand has gone clear.

Ah, I stand corrected! Take him off the list, then. I'd stopped paying attention after Nu-Men 1, which I thought was completely terrible and uninteresting. So good news that he's considering a return to autobio. If we had a separate thread of translation wishlist items, Journal would be at the top for me. I'd even argue that publishing Vol 3 by itself would make sense, for any publisher (understandably) hesitant to take on all four books.

Jenny Zervakis! Love her quiet, nervous hand. I don't think comics was ever her main thing, John P. I think was encouraging her to publish a lot? Through doing a PhD and raising a fam. But oh dear, her work is charming and real and dark and pleasant.
Was just reading Keiler Roberts for the first time and thought she has a similar sensibility to Jenny Zervakis. Though I think Jenny is a bit slower with her drawing, which I like. Slower as in she really takes her time while still allowing it to be raw.
Both are sincere.

I have seen sometimes in her instagram account some posts of comics she has done recently. I wonder if she is working on something (here is me hoping).

I hung out with her a couple of months ago and she told me she was. And that book's not complete cause she kept going, there's a 15, 16, and 16.5. She had a new mini earlier this year, or last year? Her newest mini's are for sale at Spit and a HalfI was re-reading Melody yesterday and was wishing Sylvie Rancourt did more comics where she wrote and drew them. This book is amazing.

I really like Rancourt too, I don't think that book got much attention at all. I like how the book doesn't seem interested in drawing easy judgement, even when the boyfriend is transparently a tosser, ha! She is meant to be having another self-drawn memoir coming out from D&Q - see here - but you'll note the projected publication date for that is already passed, and I don't see anything on D&Q's schedule either, so not sure whether it's behind, or in publication limbo, or the like...

Oh, great news! makes me so happy! And I didn't know there were more issues after The Strange Growths, I will have to get those, thanks!
I also agree about Sylvie Rancourt. Melody is amazing, I wish also she had kept doing comics.

Was reading some Heather McAdams comics tonight and I thought of this thread. She was pretty great! Would love to see her do something again.

Krystine Kryttre is a really interesting artist - I’ve loved the stuff of hers I’ve read in Raw and Wimmen’s Comix. No idea if she’s still around but I’m not familiar with any solo book of her’s aside from the Death Warmed Over comic but I’m happy to be corrected
