Heyhey!
I thought of a thread where people could ask for comics travel tips, advice, and locations for place they're going. Got any good comic stores, museums or galleries you know about?
For starters, in February I'm going overseas for the first time ever! To Japan! Landing in Osaka, I'll probably will be staying in the Kansai region? and will only be there for two weeks or so, but so excited to finally be popping my cherry!!! So trying to find the good places to visit. Looks like theres the Osamu Tezuka musuem in Toyonaka City which is amazing! Very excited to see that. Anything else like that? Or just some good comic shops?
And I've been looking around for any underground, local music venues, would love to see some wild music, maybe even book a show!
Anyone got some Osaka experiences or places in the Kansai region they'd recommend?

Alright keep your secrets!
But i must tell you all! I'll be attending a Yuichi Yokoyama solo exhibition in Tokyo on the 17th, next SATURDAY and I am PUMPED. Will be there for a talk by the curator and Yuichi. Will not be able to understand a word but very excited nonetheless. Hopefully will be able to grab a copy of Earth Day while I'm there!

Oh, if you’re in Tokyo, check out ブックギャラリー ポポタム maps.app.goo.gl/qLfGh7rGf5Vh4Tmg9. It’s a short walk from Ikebukuro and very close to Jiyu Gakuen Myonichikan maps.app.goo.gl/7hEvK9tgMJUY4Pkt6, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. It’s a tranquil neighborhood. The store specializes in alternative comics and they hold shows for local artists. They have a lot of Korean comics, interestingly enough. Watch out for their strange hours. They are often not open. Everyone hits up Nakano Broadway, as they should (especially maps.app.goo.gl/Tk8FcUNRaLQN2JcW8), but I kind of can’t stand it there. These three stores in Jimbocho are pretty good maps.app.goo.gl/r7ku45c5LXyWUU7m8, maps.app.goo.gl/4Ar6rur4LTkxGPAo8, and maps.app.goo.gl/632WgwWmYVYH7hYf6. I also feel like the Mandarake in Shibuya better than the one in Akihabara, and sometimes even Nakano Broadway. I just consistently find more interesting stuff there. They have a great selection of art books. I also like Koenjikita. That whole area has lots of shows and artists. Shimo-kitazawa used to be really cool, back when I was young there in the 90s. Now it’s a trap of expensive thrift stores and restaurants. The really good art and music venues have mostly left.

Oh, and I recommend checking this out maps.app.goo.gl/h9isvmApk8DDZpVP6. It’s pretty fun and sometimes they have cool exhibits. I don’t know what they are featuring now, but I saw the Go Nagai one last summer.

And goddamn, that Tokiwaso Manga Musuem looks really amazing! Will try to catch the Shotaro Ishinomori and Fujio Akatsuka exhibition.
