Hey, That's a good idea. The symposium is kinda limited in the sense that it used to be funded by The New School, and now Ben Katchor seeks funding for it through the Will Eisner foundation, which pay only the compensation for people speaking every week...$ for anything else, like even fees associated with MailChimp, come out of Ben's pocket. I'm sure there's a better way of broadcasting them that we could explore, but I always feel relieved that all the emails got sent out every week and that the speakers talk was recorded. We'll see!

Don't know if it helps but there are various online YouTube to mp3 rippers around. Search for 'youtube to mp3'.

Also, I don't know what kind of YouTube account you have, but I can minimize the window or use other apps or whatever as whatever im listening to plays.

Really enjoying this talk. CF always has such an interesting and inspiring perspective.

Austin, I don't know if it makes a difference with the videos getting a few hundred views but you/Ben could turn on Youtube ads? I certainly wouldn't mind, if it helps with costs.
I thought the CF talk was a great too. All the Symposium talks recently have been amazing. I was excited to hear the news of a NYRC early CF works collection ("looking forward to"!) and interested that much of the work came from collectors because CF doesn't have copies himself. I hope the design approach is similar to Aidan Koch's early works collection from Koyama, with the actual comics scanned and any idiosyncrasies of the printed object retained.
I wonder what other cartoonists would benefit from a collected minis book like that. Souther Salazar comes to mind.

I think a collection of Chris Cilla zines would be very interesting in that mode...also John Hankiewicz, Jason T Miles, Julia Gfroer

oh man that is GREAT news about the collection. i am still a fan of pumping out zines and comics as one-offs but as a collector i am hyped to not spend a fortune on like an 8 page xerox comic haha. gonna check out the rest of his interview tonight.

I gotta say I do not think that is necessarily the smart move for like... those "one-sheets" that are black and white xeroxes that CF then stamped "Fantasy Empire" on. Not sure you need that second color in a book collection! But yeah I agree this is wonderful news.

Low Tide 6 has arrived, what a lovely object. So great to read some more of his older character stuff, much more raw than some of his newer gradient tool work (I like that stuff too though). this is the way to reprint things, lovingly assembled.
