Genre changes all the time but I’ll make a short soundcloud playlist or find an album and play it on repeat for days. If a song sounds just right, like the track “Heal” from the Ico soundtrack, I’ll let it loop for hours. Sometimes an album or song becomes attached to a comic I’m making and I have to keep listening to the same thing while I work on it.
Also love podcasts and lectures on youtube. Inkstuds archives are also great. For anyone into mental health discussions, the channel HealthyGamerGG is also fun to listen to. Long interviews with a psychiatrist who is really talented. You can learn a lot. Of course that’s not for writing/lettering time.

i can't really listen to podcasts until i get to inking, too much active thinkwork for puny brain up to that point... i finally got an FM antenna in the studio so lately it's college radio unless the DJ's just too baby. the UNC station has strong enough management/curation that even if the kids are playing The Killers or whatever there'll be something good on rotation coming up. Duke and NC State are bigger gambles. also, knxwledge tapes Knxwledge tapes! Some of the best "flow" music out there

The person on the first page talking about getting into Japanese surf music--I know close to zero on the topic, but there's Takeshi Terauchi: youtu.be/UbSJ0HVwpzc(I think I like when he's backed by The Bunnys more than The Blue Jeans ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) Otherwise listening to some themed anthology records compiled by dudes from St. Etienne (who I'm pretty sure I have zero interest in) for Ace Records: "English Weather," "Paris in the Spring," and "State of the Union." They cover late 60s/early 70s malaise/disillusionment in English, French, and American records. Crucially for working, they all run about 70 minutes. Their "Tears of Technology" one is also good. acerecords.co.uk/various-artists-saint-etienne

KUSC, a classical radio station here in LA, really slaps when I need to tap into different emotional states when writing/penciling. I like Longplay DND podcasts while Inking for maximum time and content obfuscation.

I used to listen to a lot of KXLU when I work. I find their music selection to be the most eclectic even though I don't live in LA anymore. Nowadays I've fallen into the vtuber hole and have been listening to them in the background.

I listen to Chillhop Radio on youtube nowadays, which is just easy listening lol, but I love it. I have limited brain power and its smooth ethereal, melody-less stream doesn't distract me. I also stumbled onto Japanese "smooth jazz" which I'm enjoying. I guess this is where I admit I have questionable taste. I'm all about easy listening right now! Some great recs in this whole thread tho! Chillhop Radio www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yx6BWlEVcYThis song is ridiculous but I want to live in it. youtu.be/y8k34E4GOAs?t=1

Anything wordless when I really wanna focus. lots of easy listening (from the apple music playlist). I heard dan clowes listens to les baxter (space esccapade is a great one) and NPR. Also any country music before 1970. I bet baseball on the radio would be great too im gonna try that this summer.
